On 20th May 2017 the Princess Grace Tennis Tournament launched, the day was a HUGE success. 30 players participated in the tournament itself and an auction was held as part of the event. The day was really poignant for our charity as it fell on Grace’s 28th birthday – the sun came out after a morning of rain and we had a great afternoon of the doubles tennis and the cup winners for 2017 proudly held their title until 19th May 2018. We raised an amazing £5,000 in 2017.
Our 2nd annual event was even MORE successful, we raised a total of £7,000. The event grew for our 2018 tournament we had 20 teams of doubles teams compete to take home the Princess Grace cup. We were blessed with another day of sun, we sold our merchandise including t-shirts and hats – all needed for the perfect weather on the day. The current cup holders are eager to keep hold of their trophy into 2019. Once again we held a hugely successful auction in the evening.
We look forward to putting on our 2019 tournament next May. Tennis was Grace’s favourite sport, we aim to continue to expand our tournament year after year to raise our profile in Surrey and spread awareness for mental health in the community.
